This was done because I fear for my life. The Captain of the Black Tomatoes, Third Squad commanded me to do this...on pain of death.
-----
Kah Yunn frowned at the two figures outside her door.
"What are you two idiots doing here?"
Yiernoshi and Christine looked up from where they had been kowtowing outside Kah Yunn's door.
"Please! Teach us how to fight in this era!"
"...What is this...?"
"Well, we have to become stronger...but...we don't know how to use the rings, and...er..."
Kah Yunn sighed.
"This is Sam's idea, isn't it."
"That's right."
Sam appeared, bouncing on Yiernoshi's head like a landing board, before reaching the ground.
Kah Yunn rolled her eyes.
"I refuse. Go ask Victoria to do it."
"Well...as you can see, Victoria has gone back to her younger self."
Victoria stood behind the still-kowtowing Yiernoshi and Christine, mentally sweatdropping at the weirdness of it all.
"Oy!" Christine hissed. "Get down on your knees too!"
Before Kah Yunn could answer, a shriek came from the kitchen.
"KYAAAA! There's something
fat and
round under the sink!"
Yiernoshi, Victoria, and Christine rushed to the kitchen, to see Jeanine, who had supposedly fallen asleep after breakfast, staring at a black bulge under the sink.
The black bulge moved, and flew out, crashing into Christine.
"Sorry! I thought I'd never get unstuck!"
What they had thought to be an inaminate black blob was actually a fat-looking guy.
"My name is Fixit! (Yes, lame name from a kiddy book.) I'm the official Carbonara techinician, weapons tuner and inventor."
Jeanine blinked.
"What the heck are you doing in the kitchen?"
"Well...uh...I arrived last week, and tried to fix the sink, but got stuck..."
Yiernoshi looked at the guy's round figure.
Why am I not surprised?-----
Kah Yunn had stayed behind, at the doorway to her room, when Yiernoshi, Victoria, and Christine had gone running off.
"Do you really think that these ameteurs will survive here?"
"Why not?"
Kah Yunn stared at Sam like she was nuts.
"I'm not interested in training a bunch of kids with zero prospects. It's just a waste of time."
"Even if they've ignited the flames of the Rings?"
"What?! That's not something you can master in a day!"
"But the fact remains that two of them did ignite the Rings, and Christine even opened a box. They are serious, and very determined."
-----
Yiernoshi and the others were staring, as Fixit gathered up several armfuls of rusty tools and slowly toddled in the direction of the doors.
Before he reached them, the doors flew open.
Kah Yunn stood, outlined in the doorframe.
"Listen up!"
All heads swivelled to Kah Yunn.
"The basic knowledge you need to know, and the fighting methods, I'll hammer them into your heads."
"Eh...then..."
"For some reason, the enemy has sent more powerful squads here than we've expected. The Black Tomatoes that you fought-if the whole squad had been there, you would have been goners in an instant."
"Oh yeah, what's this black-thingy?"
"The Irritato Tomato family is a merger of two seperate families. The up-and-coming Calamari family, led by Mistan, and a family that has almost as much history as the Carbonara, the Gwanola family, led by Saumya."
"Furthermore, those from the Calamari family are now the White Tomatoes, and wear a white uniform. Those who came from the Gwanola family are now the Black Tomatoes, and wear a black uniform. Some from the Calamari chose to join Black Tomatoes, the team superior in fighting ability, rather than the White Tomatoes, the team specialising in precision and cunning battle tactics. It was the reverse with one or two from the Gwanola family."
Christine scowled.
"What's gotten into you? You're suddenly telling us so much!"
"Don't worry! If you fall behind just once, I will gladly leave you behind."
"What?!"
Kah Yunn sighed. Reaching into the folds of her cloak, she removed a box.
"Now, for the first lesson. One of you, any one will do. This box has never been opened. Take this box..."
"...and open it."
